SUMMARY:Old Testament Survey: The Roots of Faith
DESCRIPTION:The Roots of Faith: Old Testament  \nDesigned by the training staff of ABWE/Good Soil. Study the main stories and themes of the Old Testament in a way that will enrich you and also give you a way to teach it to others. The course traces the unfolding of God’s progressive revelation of major theological concepts\, especially those theological truths that are closely related to mankind’s spiritual needs and God’s plan of salvation. This module unfolds the chronological story of a perfect world that became cursed by sin\, and the giving of promises regarding a Jewish King who would become the Savior of the world! The course consists of 50 lessons/sessions\, each of which focuses on one of 50 key Old Testament redemptive story events. The learning process is engaging\, interactive\, and FUN. While learning is done in mixed groups of men and women\, you can request a women to women learning group if you prefer\, as a Women’s Development Track referral.  Course participants become certified to teach the course to others. No advance preparation.  For more information\, or to register\, go directly to the Good Soil website:  (www.GoodSoil.com/training/the-roots-of-faith) \nAnd to find out about other Good Soil development experiences and topics\, go to \n www.goodsoil.com/training/

SUMMARY:Leading 10X Deeper
DESCRIPTION:Consider joining us for Leading 10X Bigger – a 1-week executive level training for women who want to strengthen their leadership capacity. \nLeadership flows out of who you are. Join us for a week of diving deep into the Word of God\, the heart of a leader\, and your personal leadership style and attributes in close community with other women leaders. Based on the principles of Clifton Strength Based Leadership you will determine your leadership style\, edge\, and your unique leadership contribution/offering. Topics for discussion will be: Conflict resolution\, Leading out of your TOP TEN Talent Themes\, Creating a Rule of Life\, Strategic Plan for Personal Leadership Style\, Leadership Blind spots\, Values and Expectations of self and others\, Applying your unique talents to standard leadership roles\, Leadership and physical health. \n\nStrengths-Based Leadership is an approach that focuses on identifying and leveraging the natural talents and strengths of individuals within a team to maximize performance and create a thriving work environment. It contrasts with traditional leadership styles that often prioritize fixing weaknesses.\nParticipants will build:\nAuthenticity and Confidence: Leading from your strengths allows you to operate from a place of genuineness and confidence\, rather than trying to emulate another’s style\, which also builds trust in the team.\nEnhanced Decision-Making: Understanding your own strengths helps you approach challenges and decisions from your natural perspective\, leading to more informed and efficient choices.\nMaximized Efficiency: Focusing on areas of strength reduces wasted energy and streamlines processes.\nHigher Employee Engagement: When tasks are aligned with individual strengths\, employees feel more empowered\, leading to higher job satisfaction and engagement\, which in turn boosts productivity.\nIncreased Productivity: Studies show that employees who work on areas of strength are significantly more productive. This stems from the fact that individuals naturally excel in certain areas\, and focusing on these areas leads to greater output and efficiency.\nImproved Attitude and Mental Health: Working in areas of strength makes work more enjoyable and less stressful\, potentially leading to improved mental health and overall well-being.\nFaster Learning and Growth: Focusing on improving natural abilities leads to faster acquisition of new skills and quicker adaptation to new roles.\nStronger Team Dynamics: Strengths-Based Leadership fosters a culture of trust and mutual respect\, where team members appreciate and leverage each other’s strengths\, leading to better collaboration and a more cohesive team.\nEnhanced Innovation: Encouraging the use of diverse strengths within a team can lead to greater creativity and innovative problem-solving.\nImproved Organizational Performance: Organizations that prioritize strengths see higher levels of job satisfaction\, employee engagement\, and overall success.\n\nDates \nMarch 25 – April 1\, 2026 \nPlan to arrive by 5 pm on Wednesday\, the 25th\, and depart anytime on the 1st. \nTarget Audience \nLeading 10X Deeper is for women who are in a director or executive level leadership role or preparing for greater responsibility. SUMMARY:The Evangelical Spectrum on Theology of Women: A Self-Guided Workshop
DESCRIPTION:A self-guided series of recorded sessions (below.) Work through it on your own or\, even better\, with a group! \nBecause the issue of women and men in the home\, church\, and society has gained new interest over the last decade\, we have attempted to summarize the main issues in the varying positions and practice by evangelicals who all hold a high view of God’s written Word. We hope this can be a good start to an important exploration in your own process of clarity and fluency in this issue as well as a launch into even more amazement at the new life we have in Christ as Image-bearers in male and female of our Creator God! \nWhen it comes to texts that have greatly influenced modern evangelical thought\, we are dealing with issues of interpretation of Scripture\, for we are agreed on the inspiration of Scripture. And so we can expectantly and graciously engage together in an exploration of what the interpretive challenges actually are in those passages. And the interpretive decisions we all make that impact the way we walk out our faith in the area of men and women in Christ. \nBelow you’ll find the recorded parts of our online seminar that we normally do as monthly sessions with discussion and interaction interspersed (which we don’t record.) If you have a group with which to listen through these explanations of the interpretive challenges of passages that are most often used to form a position and practice\, stop at various points to hear from each other – with an attitude of respectful disagreement and listening to learn:\nWhat was new to me? What makes most sense to me at this point and why? How have I seen this taught or practiced in my sphere of influence? What do I want to think/pray about or study further? \nWatch Here: \n\n Overview and Spectrum Summary\n  Genesis 1-3\n Galatians 3\, 1 Corinthians 7\n Ephesians 5: 21-33\, 1 Peter 3:1-9\n  1 Tim 2: 8 – 15\n Review and 1 Cor 11\n 1 Corinthians 11: 2-16\, 14:26-40\n Overview Old Testament to the Church \n\nFacilitators: \nHeather Althoff currently serves as the Missions Pastor at LifeWay Church in Federal Way\, WA. While earning a bachelor’s degree in Classical Greek from Trinity University and a Master of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary\, Heather developed a deep love for studying and teaching theology.  She served as the Community Life Pastor\, leading the assimilation and discipleship efforts at LifeWay from 2008-2019. In addition to teaching\, she trained small group leaders and wrote discipleship materials. She has a passion for encouraging\, training\, and resourcing people to develop their relationship with Jesus\, know their theology\, and live out their calling to share Jesus with others. In 2019\, Heather brought these same passions to LifeWay’s missions efforts. She lives in the Seattle area with her husband and two teenage kids. \nDon Turner was the President of Global Focus\, a ministry that helps local churches strategically enhance their involvement in missions.  Now retired\, Don’s background is a unique blend of corporate and ministry experience – from the United States Air Force to a Fortune 500 company in the Seattle area as Manager of Strategic Planning and Management Control Systems\, and the Assistant General Manager of Management Information Systems.  In 1987 Don left the corporate world to accept an invitation to pastoral ministry\, first as an executive pastor and then as a lead pastor\, a position he held for 21 years.  Also having served as an elder in his local church for many years\, Don also serves on the Board of IMPACT and has a strong understanding of the church and global missions. SUMMARY:Pursuing Partnership Culture: Considerations as Men and Women Lead Together
DESCRIPTION:Coming again soon: check back!\n Wednesdays\, 12:30 – 2:00pm Eastern time\, bi-weekly\nFor men and women both to participate and process as colleagues.\nSession 1: Introductions and Overview\nSession 2: Benefits and Barriers – Structural & Practical\nSession 3: Implications of Theology – The Evangelical Spectrum\nSession 4: Flourishing Partnership – Inner Life\nSession 5: Flourishing Partnership – Community Culture\nSession 6: Flourishing Partnership – Intentional Practices \nPursuing Partnership Culture: Considerations as Men and Women Lead Together\n*Organizational Culture Shifts that Help Men and Women Flourish as They Work Together\n*Reducing Unintended Barriers to Healthy Partnership\n*Creating Pathways for Women in Organizational Leadership\n \nThis online workshop is limited to 20 participants who are focused on exploring and growing together around men and women leading together. (Limit 3 people from any one organization\, but colleagues attending together is encouraged for maximum benefit to the organization) \n\n*Learn with and from other participants in a discussion-based format\n*Spiritual reflection and practical help\n*Leave with new relationships and insights\n*Opportunities for ongoing cohort learning and interaction following event \nFacilitated by Ms. Wendy Wilson and Dr. Rob Dixon\n*More about our facilitators below \nEvent Specifics: \nFacilitators will lead us in interaction around understanding what is happening in both the research and changing expectations around men and women working together in leadership. What do we have to gain or lose by actively pursuing a more effective blend of men and women working together at the leadership level? How do address the challenges and opportunities? We will engage questions and interaction\, and make progress on developing effective processes for your own scenario. \n*Is the need for change traditional\, theological and/or practical?\n*What can be easily changed (once recognized) and what is more challenging?\n*What might a helpful organizational readiness process look like toward engaging effective partnerships?\n*How might expectations be different between home office leadership\, field staff\, supporting churches?\n*As many entities desire to involve more women in their leadership structures (field or executive roles)\, what might be unintended barriers and unrecognized opportunities in this direction?\n*How can we create more avenues to find\, develop\, support\, and retain more gifted women to bring the perspective and talent that we desire for our organizations?\n*What characteristics of organizational culture best support men and women working together in leadership? \nWe will consider a variety of intentional organizational practices that can help us move toward organizational cultures that invite\, develop\, and support women with leadership gifts and experience so male leaders have the eyes and perspectives they need from their female allies. As we identify any unintended barriers to meaningful partnership that may be at work in our own organizational cultures\, we are free to think creatively about removing and replacing them with processes that more accurately reflect our goals and help us accomplish our mission. We can begin to cultivate readiness\, embrace desired change\,  and establish ongoing pathways to bring the benefits of male/female partnerships more fully to bear.  The Image of God displayed and at work! \nWho is this for? \n*Mission Organization Decision-Makers (Executive Level\, HR/Personnel)\n*Field Staff Leadership\n*Church Leadership (Pastors\, Elders\, Dir. of Ops/Personnel) \n\nRegistration: $ 125\nRegister and pay online through the link in the top right corner of this page. As we steward the gift of leadership and the impact of our leadership on others\, we want to nurture a lifestyle that can resist busy-ness and capitulation as opportunities press hard on us for a response. This is where too many leaders compromise spiritual vitality and their ability to lead others well. With both guided and private space to sit with the Lord and to catch up with your soul\, we will enjoy a variety of practices that invite us to protect essential margin and quiet before the Lord so that we maintain the spiritual vitality needed to lead others well. We will explore life/work balance and boundaries; working with our brothers\, being aware of self-limiting perceptions\, maintaining healthy personal vision\, conflict management\, and other internal permission issues that can impact our leadership as women in particular. We will also address God’s design for our best contribution through personal Strengths-Finders discovery and coaching on-site during the week.  This peer-mentoring community is guided by experienced women mentors and limited to a cohort of 10 participants\, so we leave with important friendships for the ongoing journey! Part 1 is recommended but not required.  (Advance reading for discussion: Seven Deadly Sins of Women in Leadership\, by Kate Coleman\, and Sacred Rhythms\, by Ruth Haley Barton) \nLearning is done in an interactive peer-group\, guided by experienced mentors\, with a maximum of 10 women (max 2 per organization.) SUMMARY:The Spectrum of Evangelical Position and Practice on Women: Unpacking the Interpretive Challenges
DESCRIPTION:For men and women of the Great Commission community\nOnline: Third Wednesday of each month\, Sept 18 – April 16\, 12-2pm ET \nPresenter-Facilitators (scroll down for more about them*):\nHeather Althoff – LifeWay Church\, Missions Pastor\nDon Turner – Global Focus\, Pres/CEO\nWendy Wilson – MissioNexus\, Advisor for Dev of Women; Women’s Development Track\, Exec Dir \nNote from Wendy Wilson\, (Missio Nexus Mission Advisor for Development of Women\, Women’s Development Track Exec Dir). Two subjects that have the most traction currently among our members in their quest to steward well the gifts of their women are 1) women in leadership\, and 2) theology of women. So we are embarking on this series of guided online discussions to help address those requests. Our purpose here is to create fruitful conversation among those who love God and His Word\, and to resource our members as they seek God’s heart in their understanding and practice.  May the Bride of Christ be radiant! \nAs evangelicals we believe in the inerrancy of Scripture and hold a high view of God’s written Word to us as the basis of our belief and practice And we all love and worship the Living Word\, Jesus\, our Redeemer\, Savior\, and God Almighty. So how can it be that evangelicals – whether serious academics\, ministry leaders or other devoted disciples – have come to such a wide variety of conclusions about God’s design and heart for women in the Body of Christ? Who they are\, what they can do or not do\, how they relate to God and His purposes\, how they relate to their brothers in Christ. (And so\, this discussion is really about men and women both!) And how can it be that evangelicals who may hold the same position\, actually practice it quite differently? \nWhen it comes to texts that have greatly influenced modern evangelical thought\, we are dealing with issues of interpretation of Scripture\, for we are agreed on the inspiration of Scripture. And so we can expectantly and graciously engage together in an exploration of what the interpretive challenges actually are in those passages. And the interpretive decisions we all make that impact the way we walk out our faith in the area of men and women in Christ. \nIn this workshop we will look at the spectrum of thought\, the different ways and whys believers have come to different conclusions\, all pursuing God’s heart and honoring His Word. We’ll consider closely some passages that are most often contested in this conversation:  Genesis 1-3\, Galatians 3\, Ephesians 5\, 1 Peter 3\, 1 Timothy 2\, 1 Corinthians 7\, 11 & 14. Come and enjoy a respectful conversation\, guided by Kingdom colleagues who are experienced in this rich discussion (and love it!) Our hope is to give you information and perspectives that encourage your own continuing journey in faith and practice. \nIn a series of eight monthly 2-hour sessions\, on the THIRD Wednesday of each month from 12:00-2:00pm Eastern time\, we will  interact over the interpretive issues found in Scripture passages that are most commonly used as the biblical basis for various positions. As  facilitators present various segments\, we will discuss as peers to learn from each other’s experiences and practices as well. \n#1\, Sept 18 –  Overview and Spectrum Summary\n#2\, Oct 16 –  Genesis 1-3\n#3\, Nov 20 – Galatians 3\, 1 Corinthians 7\n#4\, Dec 18 – Ephesians 5: 21-33\, 1 Peter 3:1-9\n#5\, Jan 15 –  1 Tim 2: 8 – 15\n#6\, Feb 19 – 1 Tim 2: 8 – 15 (cont’d)   \n#7\, Mar 19 – 1 Corinthians 11: 2-16\, 14:26-40\n#8\, Apr 16 –Overview Old Testament to the Church  \nSuggested advance reading:\nNeither Complementarian nor Egalitarian\,(Baker Books\, 2016)\, by Dr Michelle Lee-Barnewall (Assoc Professor of New Testament at Biola University)\nAfter you read the book\, listen to her 40-min podcast in an interview that highlights her journey into a more fruitful conversation. \nRegistration: $ 125    (click button above right corner)\nLimited to 25 participants (closed when full) to best support both new relationships and vibrant discussions. Guided by experienced facilitators\, we can look forward to a deeper dive on the subject at hand each week. We will alternate between times of content presentation and Zoom room discussions.  While we understand that unexpected issues come up\, we trust that each participant will honor the group by making this monthly meeting a priority. This way we can all look forward to the most meaningful experience together!  \nCost: $125 \nDescription when you register:  Contested Passages Online\nDates: Sept 18\, 2024 – April 16\, 2025 \nRegister online asap to assure your place – You will receive a confirmation and Zoom invitation soon after your registration is received! \nQuestions?\nContact Wendy – wendy@womensdevelopmenttrack.org\n(208) 665-2367 \n*More about your facilitators: \nHeather Althoff currently serves as the Missions Pastor at LifeWay Church in Federal Way\, WA. DESCRIPTION:May 14-20\, 2025  \nRegistration closes March 14\, 2025 (or sooner if full – 1 place remaining)\nLeadership Pathways\, Part 1: Preparing for a Wider Scope of Leadership\nFacilitated by:\nAndrea Buczynski (Cru – Leadership Consultant and Coach)\,\nJenn Williamson (MissioNexus\, Dir of Leadership Formation\n \nWhat changes as your responsibilities increase? \nThis experience focuses on developing the increasing capacities/skills needed for women who are gifted and called into a larger scope or responsibility of leadership in their organization. Whether you are already there or on your way\, this experience can help you trouble shoot where you are currently\, identify what needs to shift\, and put language to what you’re experiencing.  While more agencies are seeking gifted women to serve in their senior leadership teams\, too often the paths to this niche of service for women are not clear\, leaving us under-prepared for the unique challenges and opportunities we face. We will discuss the importance of the heart of the leader as well as her relationships with God\, self\, and others. We will also consider key functions of a leader such casting vision\, setting direction\, attending to priorities\, leading change\, building teams\, men/women working together\, and serving as spokesperson.  Developing confidence\, born of humility and calling\, allows gifted women to bring needed creativity and perspective to decision-making teams where men and women work together to offer the fullness of God’s Image. Limited places available – first come\, first serve. . .\nhosted by: SIM USA\nfacilitated by Ruthie Campbell (SIM\, Spiritual Vitality and Prayer Coordinator) \nStatio is a custom of stopping one thing before beginning another\, making room for an unhurried moment to be attentive to God.  Psalm 90:12 (NASB) says ‘So teach us to number our days aright that we might present to you a heart of wisdom.’  Are you in need of a holy pause to consider the order of your days? A way of being that leads to greater intimacy with God and in tune with your need to enter His rest and live from it for the sake of others? \nLaunching our discussions from Ruth Haley Barton’s book Sacred Rhythms\, we will explore and practice several key Spiritual Practices that disciples of Jesus have used throughout history to arrange their lives for growing in intimacy with God.  Through the week we each will craft a personal framework of rhythm to help order our days towards living from a stillness that offers fruit to others and brings about the Kingdom in all its fullness.  Through guided reflections\, facilitated discussions\, as well as times of silence and solitude\, we will make room to nourish our souls and listen attentively to God\, to one another\, and to what’s stirring in our own hearts.   Group size is limited to 10. \nThis development experience will allow time to experience practices that can help us enter into the stillness that strengthens our ability to enjoy Him and to discern what God is doing around us\, in us\, and through us!  Invest now in this relational learning experience with peers\, in a lovely setting for renewal and growth!   Learning is done in interactive peer-groups\, guided by experienced mentors\, with a maximum of 10 women in each group.
