Plan on 2-5 hours per week of thoughtful study of your passage as you move toward message preparation.\nNov 14-15: We will meet in-person from 3pm – 8pm Friday – 9am – 6pm Saturday to preach our biblical message to the cohort for feedback from each other as well as from our coach. Friday dinner\, Saturday lunch provided. \nThis special preaching workshop is designed by Dr Jackie Roese to build confidence and skills in those ready to give themselves to the sacred work of proclaiming God’s Word effectively. In this cohort of learners\, we learn to study\, prepare\, and deliver a transformative 20-minute biblical message in dependence on God’s Spirit and in a community of peer-learners. We will also discuss the internal issues that can cause us to doubt ourselves and withhold our giftedness\, including cultural\, family and church background. \nJackie has taught the Scriptures and trained others to do the same for 30 years out of her own love for Jesus and His Word. In 2008 she was the first female to serve on the Sunday morning preaching team at a large church in Dallas\, Texas. With degrees from Dallas Seminary and Gordon-Conwell Seminary\, she has done thoughtful and fruitful writing and teaching on the important and relevant topic of women in the evangelical church. In 2012\, Jackie founded The Marcella Project\, an organization committed to reshaping our view of women and to ennobling women through Scripture-focused teaching\, training\, and dialogue. She loves to see sisters and brothers in Christ partnering together in their giftedness to strengthen Christ’s church. She and her husband Steve have 3 adult children. \nDon’t let fear hold you back! SUMMARY:Group Discipleship: Guiding Peer-Learning

Limited places available – first come\, first serve. . .\nhosted and requested by: A3\nfacilitated by Wendy Wilson (Dir\, WDT) \nMaking the shift from “teaching as telling” to “guide on the side” is key to the kind of relational teaching that nurtures a lifetime disciple – and it’s something that many of us can learn to do more effectively than lecture! Guided peer-learning frees us to connect the truth of God’s Word with the realities of our lives\, using any good content of your choice well. Group learning involves becoming a co-learner and a guide\, actively listening\, preparing good questions that guide toward discovery\, staying on track by building continuity\, building trust and respect among members\, and designing discipleship experiences that transform and multiply. Besides being a key shift in teaching style to engage the next generation\, these are life skills that apply to small group Bible Studies\, home groups\, ministry teams\, web-based meetings\, and to the variety of conversations we have daily with people around us! Some advance preparation. \nThis development experience will help you build confidence and discipleship skills that strengthen your ability to step into the opportunities God is putting before you!  Invest now in a relational learning experience with peers\, in a lovely setting for renewal and growth!   Learning is done in interactive peer-groups\, guided by experienced mentors\, with a maximum of 10 women in each group. SUMMARY:Leadership Pathways\, Part 2: Leading Myself as I Follow Christ
DESCRIPTION:March 26 – April 2\, 2025   \nRegistration closed: FULL – email Wendy to be put on a “first-notify” list in case a spot opens up.\nFacilitators:  Caryn Young\, Strengths-Finders coach\nJoy Beless\, Spiritual Director and Worship Leader\nWendy Wilson\, Women’s Development Track – Exec Dir \nUsually the hardest person to lead is . . . myself!  Has the woman in the mirror cultivated her own relationship with God in stillness and trust\, recognizing the other voices that compete for her priorities? As we steward the gift of leadership and the impact of our leadership on others\, we want to nurture a lifestyle that can resist busy-ness and capitulation as opportunities press hard on us for a response. This is where too many leaders compromise spiritual vitality and their ability to lead others well. With both guided and private space to sit with the Lord and to catch up with your soul\, we will enjoy a variety of practices that invite us to protect essential margin and quiet before the Lord so that we maintain the spiritual vitality needed to lead others well. We will explore life/work balance and boundaries; working with our brothers\, being aware of self-limiting perceptions\, maintaining healthy personal vision\, conflict management\, and other internal permission issues that can impact our leadership as women in particular. We will also address God’s design for our best contribution through personal Strengths-Finders discovery and coaching on-site during the week.  This peer-mentoring community is guided by experienced women mentors and limited to a cohort of 10 participants\, so we leave with important friendships for the ongoing journey! Part 1 is recommended but not required.  (Advance reading for discussion: Seven Deadly Sins of Women in Leadership\, by Kate Coleman\, and Sacred Rhythms\, by Ruth Haley Barton) \nLearning is done in an interactive peer-group\, guided by experienced mentors\, with a maximum of 10 women (max 2 per organization.) SUMMARY:The Spectrum of Evangelical Position and Practice on Women: Unpacking the Interpretive Challenges
DESCRIPTION:For men and women of the Great Commission community\nOnline: Third Wednesday of each month\, Sept 18 – April 16\, 12-2pm ET \nPresenter-Facilitators (scroll down for more about them*):\nHeather Althoff – LifeWay Church\, Missions Pastor\nDon Turner – Global Focus\, Pres/CEO\nWendy Wilson – MissioNexus\, Advisor for Dev of Women; Women’s Development Track\, Exec Dir \nNote from Wendy Wilson\, (Missio Nexus Mission Advisor for Development of Women\, Women’s Development Track Exec Dir). Two subjects that have the most traction currently among our members in their quest to steward well the gifts of their women are 1) women in leadership\, and 2) theology of women. So we are embarking on this series of guided online discussions to help address those requests. Our purpose here is to create fruitful conversation among those who love God and His Word\, and to resource our members as they seek God’s heart in their understanding and practice.  May the Bride of Christ be radiant! \nAs evangelicals we believe in the inerrancy of Scripture and hold a high view of God’s written Word to us as the basis of our belief and practice And we all love and worship the Living Word\, Jesus\, our Redeemer\, Savior\, and God Almighty. So how can it be that evangelicals – whether serious academics\, ministry leaders or other devoted disciples – have come to such a wide variety of conclusions about God’s design and heart for women in the Body of Christ? Who they are\, what they can do or not do\, how they relate to God and His purposes\, how they relate to their brothers in Christ. (And so\, this discussion is really about men and women both!) And how can it be that evangelicals who may hold the same position\, actually practice it quite differently? \nWhen it comes to texts that have greatly influenced modern evangelical thought\, we are dealing with issues of interpretation of Scripture\, for we are agreed on the inspiration of Scripture. And so we can expectantly and graciously engage together in an exploration of what the interpretive challenges actually are in those passages. And the interpretive decisions we all make that impact the way we walk out our faith in the area of men and women in Christ. \nIn this workshop we will look at the spectrum of thought\, the different ways and whys believers have come to different conclusions\, all pursuing God’s heart and honoring His Word. We’ll consider closely some passages that are most often contested in this conversation:  Genesis 1-3\, Galatians 3\, Ephesians 5\, 1 Peter 3\, 1 Timothy 2\, 1 Corinthians 7\, 11 & 14. Come and enjoy a respectful conversation\, guided by Kingdom colleagues who are experienced in this rich discussion (and love it!) Our hope is to give you information and perspectives that encourage your own continuing journey in faith and practice. \nIn a series of eight monthly 2-hour sessions\, on the THIRD Wednesday of each month from 12:00-2:00pm Eastern time\, we will  interact over the interpretive issues found in Scripture passages that are most commonly used as the biblical basis for various positions. She brings years of experience in engaging the spectrum of views in the ongoing evangelical discussion about women in ministry and marriage.  Wendy lived and travelled abroad with Entrust\, a pastoral training ministry\, for 28 years. Then in 2012 she was asked to serve as the Mission Advisor for Development of Women to the Missio Nexus network of 350 agencies. Whether you are already there or on your way\, this experience can help you trouble shoot where you are currently\, identify what needs to shift\, and put language to what you’re experiencing.  While more agencies are seeking gifted women to serve in their senior leadership teams\, too often the paths to this niche of service for women are not clear\, leaving us under-prepared for the unique challenges and opportunities we face. We will discuss the importance of the heart of the leader as well as her relationships with God\, self\, and others. We will also consider key functions of a leader such casting vision\, setting direction\, attending to priorities\, leading change\, building teams\, men/women working together\, and serving as spokesperson.  Developing confidence\, born of humility and calling\, allows gifted women to bring needed creativity and perspective to decision-making teams where men and women work together to offer the fullness of God’s Image. And so we can expectantly and graciously engage together in an exploration of what the interpretive challenges actually are in those passages. And the interpretive decisions we all make that impact the way we walk out our faith in the area of men and women in Christ. \nIn this workshop we will look at the spectrum of thought\, the different ways and why’s evangelical believers have come to different conclusions\, all pursuing God’s heart and honoring His Word. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Classical Greek from Trinity University and a Master’s of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary\, Heather developed a deep love for studying and teaching theology.  From 2008-2019\, Heather served as the Community Life Pastor\, leading the assimilation and discipleship efforts at LifeWay. It has now become his primary area of research. Ron has authored numerous journal articles\, co-edited Discovering Biblical Equality (2005\, 2021)\, authored Partners in Marriage & Ministry (2011)\, and Daniel (Teach the Text series\, 2015). Ron and his wife Pat have been married since 1969\, and have two adult children and four grandchildren. They live in Fullerton\, California and serve as active members of Whittier Area Community Church. \nTrevor Gavin has been a church planter\, pastor\, and teacher for 15+ years. The majority of his focus has been spending time learning from friends and helping to develop a framework for life that makes Christianity compelling in a secular age.  In addition to ministry efforts\, Trevor has also started two fintech companies and has consulted businesses to create healthy cultures to grow and become sustainable. He is best known as husband to Julianne and Dad to Ali and Bear. \nWendy Wilson has served in various capacities in leadership training ministry and missions since 1984. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M University and a Master’s degree in Biblical Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary. She brings years of experience in engaging the spectrum of views in the ongoing evangelical discussion about women in ministry and marriage.  Wendy lived and travelled abroad with Entrust\, a pastoral training ministry\, for 28 years. Then in 2012 she was asked to serve as the Mission Advisor for Development of Women to the Missio Nexus network of 350 agencies. As we plant and nurture churches in diverse settings\, what are the current callings\, challenges\, and opportunities of the North American church and missions regarding women?
