Monthly Online Book Discussion Groups: Guided Peer-Learning

April 1, 2021 - May 3, 2021

Online Peer-Learning Groups – Once a month for 2 hours   (registration closed – groups in process – check back in Summer 2021 for new groups!)
Featured Author: Carolyn Custis James

If you are desiring connection with a wider circle of Great Commission women who want to dive deeper into God’s Word, and what we learn from the stories of women especially, this is for you!

Groups are limited to 6-8 participants (closed when full) to best support both our new relationships and vibrant discussions. Guided by experienced facilitators, we can look forward to a deeper dive on the subject at hand each week.

Because groups are limited in size, we count on group members doing all they can to be present, prepared, and ready to participate each meeting. While we understand that unexpected issues come up, we trust that each participant will honor her group by making this monthly meeting a priority. This way we can all look forward to the most meaningful experience together!

Register by October 1 (REGISTRATION CLOSED) At the close of registration, your facilitator will be contact with you! Feel free to order your book right away so you have it in plenty of time.

Registration:(click button above right corner) Please indicate your book title and day/time choice.

Cost: $25 when you register, plus purchase of the book separately.

 Book Group/Date Choices:

1. The Gospel of Ruth
This isn’t the Ruth, the Naomi, or the Boaz we thought we knew. James drills down deeper into the story where she uncovers in the Old Testament the same passionate, counter-cultural, rule-breaking gospel that Jesus modeled and taught his followers to pursue. Within this age-old story is a map to radical levels of love and sacrifice, combined with the message that God is counting on his daughters to build his kingdom. The Gospel of Ruth vests every woman’s life with kingdom purposes and frees us to embrace wholeheartedly God’s calling, regardless of our circumstances or season of life.

2. Lost Women of the Bible
You know the women of the Bible, but you don’t know them like this… It’s easy for Christian women—young and old—to get lost between the opportunities and demands of the present and the biblical teachings of the past. Building on solid scholarship and a determination to wrestle honestly with perplexing questions, James unearths surprising new insights and a powerful message that will leave readers feeling challenged, encouraged, and deeply valued.

Dates: Second Wednesday (once a month), starting October 14 through March 10

3. Half the Church
Women comprise at least half the world and usually more than half the church. The plight and giftedness of women around the world requires a more thorough look at all God calls women and men to be in his world, with a theology that can stand on the shoulders of His people in every culture. James offers readers a powerful, kingdom approach to the changes, challenges, and opportunities facing women throughout the world today.

4. When Life and Beliefs Collide
This book calls us to think seriously about what we believe about God when life challenges our paradigms, and why women need to be serious students of the Bible. With passion and eloquence, Carolyn weaves stories of contemporary women with episodes from the life of Mary and Martha of Bethany to illustrate the practical and profound benefits of knowing God deeply. As the first of her thoughtful books, she affirms women in their callings, chosen-ness, and gifting as “ezer” warriors.
