Leadership Pathways, Part 3: Developing Others

Facilitated by Wendy Wilson (Missio Nexus, WDT), Heather Althoff (WDT, Lifeway Church), and Jo Haag (Wycliffe)
hosted by Wycliffe Bible Translators in Orlando FL

This experience will focus on 1) productive conversations and language that can help pave the way for healthy leadership partnerships as brothers and sisters in Christ, 2) gaining personal clarity, identifying inconsistencies, exploring historical and practical trends, and resolving tensions we may hold related to our understanding and application of biblical teaching around gender, leadership, gifting, and design – at home, in the church, and outside,  and 3) coaching as a relational leadership style to support a culture of developing people (including yourself!) What a privilege to have time with peers and mentors around these rich issues that can help us, and those around us, thrive!

This peer-mentoring community is guided by experienced women mentors and limited to a cohort of 12 participants, so we leave with important friendships for the ongoing journey!  (A one-week experience) Advance reading– Co-Workers and Co-Leaders: Women and Men Partnering for God’s Work, by Jackson & Lin, and Half the Church, by Carolyn Custis James.

Course Schedule:

Begin Thursday evening, Feb 1, with introductions and registration at 5pm, dinner at 6pm. End Tuesday evening, Feb 7, at 7pm . 9:00 am – 6:00 pm daily.

We will enjoy a worship time together each morning and a Free Afternoon mid-way through the week to enjoy the area and have some fun/relaxation (we’ll need it!) There are a number of options to enjoy in the area – from the Atlantic Ocean to a variety of attractions . . . or just rest!

Cost for the Week:   $900 all-inclusive, on-site

We will be hosted by the Wycliffe Bible Translators guest facility in Orlando, FL. This all-inclusive price includes lovely fully furnished apartment accommodation with separate bedrooms for each participant and use of all facilities, with 3 meals/day plus coffee breaks, for the duration of your stay, Feb 1-8, except dinner on the day off.   It also includes training instruction, all meeting rooms, administration, pick-up and delivery to the Orlando airport if needed, and transportation on our day off (materials ordered separately). What a deal!

Confirmation:

We will confirm your reservation and send your receipt when we receive your registration form and payment. Before you book your travel, please wait until you hear from us at the close of registration 2 months ahead of the event, or sooner if it fills up early.

Refund Policy:

If cancellation is necessary, you will receive a refund less a $200 cancellation fee since this is necessary to cover non-refundable costs. However, since groups are limited to 12, cancellations affect the overall group experience and configuration as well as our commitment to the facility. Therefore, we ask that each participant make every effort to be present once registered. Thank you!

Arrivals/Departures:

If you are flying from out of the area please fly into Orlando FL (MCO) by Thursday afternoon, Feb 1 no later than 4pm, so our scheduled start at 5pm is protected – especially with winter travel. Flight departures anytime Thursday, Feb 8 (breakfast included). Thanks for arranging your arrival/departure times so that you will be present from beginning to end, not arriving/leaving early. Depending on traffic, it takes about 20 minutes to get from the Orlando airport to the Wycliffe guest house and we will meet you.

If you are driving to the Wycliffe guest house, please plan to be there by 4 pm on Thursday, Feb 1 to get checked in and settled before our introductory time begins.

Participants overwhelmingly agree that staying on site, even if you are local, provides the strongest, undistracted experience of this special learning/relating community. But if you are staying elsewhere, to best protect an undistracted experience, we ask that you stay fully engaged with your group all day from breakfast through dinner.
